I only sat up and took notice of Elon Musk’s rise to fame and fortune when he was mentioned in a Fortune magazine article on Tesla back in 2008. It had been twenty years since we left high school and I seem to recall that he had attended the 10-year reunion as I had, and that we may have exchanged a few words at the event. Since then I have paid more attention to his pursuits and I have read Ashlee Vance’s excellent biography of him. Wow! Personal pernicious attributes aside, here’s a person who doesn’t accept things “as they are” and goes boldly where others fear to tread. Too often I am witness to situations where guts and determination are diluted down to following the status quo and not rocking the boat. This may be the safe option in the short term, even the medium term, but in the long run this has the potential to enslave us and lead to our demise. Let’s all be a little bit more like Elon!
